With Los Angeles being a major metropolitan area, sometimes you just need an extra slice of privacy. Below is a sampling of the gated communities available in Los Angeles. From regal historic communities in Los Angeles to newer sub-divisions, there is an option to fit most tastes.

Fremont Place: Located just south of Hancock Park on the south side of Wilshire Blvd and East of Rossmore. Fremont place features just 73 homes. Developed in the early 1900s, it has been home to King Gillette, Mary Pickford, Elizabeth Taylor and Prince. This neighborhood is gated and guarded 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Laughlin Park: Located in Los Feliz. As a construction boom occurred in the 1910s and 1920s, lavish homes and estates were built in the gated community of Laughlin Park by Hollywood elite such as Cecil B. DeMille, W.C. Fields, Charlie Chaplin, Carole Lombard, Antonio Moreno, Deanna Durbin, Lily Pons and Andre Kostelanetz.

Mulholland Estates: Located on Mulholland, east of Beverly Glen. This gated community is/has been home to many celebrities, including Paul Anka, Tom Arnold and Avril Lavigne. The neighborhood features newer construction and the lots have valley views.

Beverly Park: Located in Beverly Hills Post Office/BHPO, this gated and guarded community located South of Mulholland Drive between Beverly Glen Blvd and Coldwater Canyon Blvd. The 250 acre community was built in 1990 and includes homes from 5,000 square feet to 40,000 square feet. Current and past residents include Samuel Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington and Faith Hill.

The Summit: The Summit is an exclusive gated community that is the site of some of the most expensive homes in Beverly Hills Post Office. Located at the top of Coldwater Canyon and Mullholland the gated community is gated and includes guards 24 hours a day. Most of the homes were built in the late 1980s but it also includes some newer homes built in the 2000?s.

Bel Air Crest/Upper Casiano: This beautiful development is located in Bel-Air and is a gated and guarded community. Mostly developed in the early 1990s  through early 2000s. Located North of Sunset Blvd and East of the 405.  Bel Air Crest encompasses two developments. The Canyon homes and the Custom Homes. The lots sizes range from 6,000 square feet to almost an acre. Features of the area include playground, tennis courts, clubhouse, gym and pool.

Mountaingate:  Located just West of the 405 is Moutaingate. A gate and guarded community. The community was first developed in the 1970s in what was originally a landfill. The landfill was developed as a country club. The area includes 4 communities. 187 homes, and 130 condos and townhomes. Amenities of the community include a pool, recreation room, community park and tennis courts.

Brentwood Circle: Located in Brentwood, this is a gated portion of Brentwood located north of Sunset Blvd. Brentwood Circle is gated and guarded community of 67 homes.

Brentwood Country Estates: Brentwood Country Estates is a 24 hour guard gated community. Set in the Santa Monica Mountains, yet only 1.5 miles north of Sunset Boulevard and minutes from Brentwood’s fine shops and dining. This unique development combines a serene country setting with breathtaking views of the ocean, city and mountains. There are only fourteen estate sites in this two hundred and fifty acre enclave, which assures undisturbed privacy and seclusion. Each site averages 3.85 acres with flat building pads ranging from 30,000 square feet to over 2 acres.

Lime Orchard Rd & Hidden Valley Rd: Located along Coldwater Canyon is Hidden Valley Road, which also connects to Lime Orchard Road in BHPO (Beverly Hills Post Office). This is a gated community little known by most. There isn?t an actual gate but there is always a guard located at Hidden Valley as you turn off Coldwater.
